Many people believed that humans were the highest form of living things. According to Darwin's theory humans would have to evolve form ape type creatures, or even apes themselves.

Charles Darwin was depicted as half-monkey as ridicule for his theory of humans evolving form apes.
Many people were outraged by this. How could humans be related to apes? Humans, as many people believed, are the highest life form. According to the Bible, humans were made by God just as we are. Darwin found proof in evolution in vestigial organs. Vestigial organs are organs that we no longer use, but are still part of our anatomy. The appendix is one example of a vestigial organ. The appendix is attached to the large intestine. There is no longer any function for the appendix, however scientist believe the appendix was used as a digestion aid in our early ancestors, back when we ate raw animals. Erector pili are another vestigial body part. Erector pili are goose bumps. They were there in our ancestors and are in fellow mammals to raise the surrounding fur to make the animal look larger and more threatening. They are useless in modern humans because the hair surrounding the erector pili is too thin and sparse to make us look more threatening. Unless humans had evolved, why were there these useless body parts to begin with? Although Darwin's theory makes convincing points, the evolution of humans is a difficult pill for many to swallow.
